Hi Mommy!

On Tuesday, while Eli was taking his nap, I showered. While drying my hair I heard a "Hi Mommy"! There stood Eli with a big smile on his face. I was shocked he was out of his crib, so I made him show me how he climbed out. He told me to "Come Mommy, I show you", so I followed him to his room. I put him back into his crib and he climbed out with no problem. He was so proud of himself. Uh oh....it was time for the big boy bed!

When Daddy got home I had Eli show him how he climbed out of his bed. Daddy immediately converted his bed to the toddler bed (Scott's been wanting to do that for a long time). Eli loves the idea of his big boy bed. He loves putting all his blankets in his bed and pretending he's sleeping. I'm having a really hard time with this change. It's now more difficult to get Eli to sleep for naps and in bed at night, and he's been waking much earlier in the morning. I'm not a morning person and I've gotten used to sleeping until at least until 8:00 each morning. Ugh...not any more! Daddy, however, loves this change. He now gets to see Eli each morning before he leaves for work.

Our Anniversary

Sunday, Feb. 22nd was our 6 year Anniversary! Scott took me to Chicago for a surprise weekend. We spent Saturday shopping at the Woodfield Mall and IKEA. Then, we checked into our hotel (Sofitel), which was very nice. We cleaned up and headed to dinner. Scott surprised me by taking me to Cafe La Cave. This was the restaurant we went to before flying to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. Great food and cool atmosphere! The restaurant looks like you're inside a cave. We then headed to the Rosemont Theatre to see Movin' Out. This is a musical set to all Billy Joel music. It was really good, but don't think Scott was too excited about the dancing, as he called it "ballet". It was so sweet of Scott to do this for me since he's not really the musical type of guy. I really enjoyed the weekend away with my guy. Happy Anniversary honey! I love you!

Sick

Eli has been sick since Saturday, but today was definitely the worst. He had a fever this morning when he woke up. We ended up spending the morning laying on the couch watching Caillou. By lunch time he was feeling a little better. He actually ate lunch and then we played cars for a bit. After his nap he had a fever again. Poor little guy. Hope tomorrow is better.

Kohl Children's Museum

On Saturday, for Valentine's Day, we went to the Kohl Children's Museum in Chicago with Scott, Micki and Gracie Kidder. We were so impressed with this hands-on museum. Other then being really crowded, Eli and Gracie had a wonderful time. They made sandwiches at Potbelly's, grocery shopped, were veternarians, worked on a house, picked up rocks (really beanbags) with a crane, played music, played in water, climbed on a train, walked through a car wash and many, many other things. We could have played there all day! We will definitely go back!

Obama Visits Elkhart

On Monday Eli had a once in a lifetime experience. Mommy had an appointment, so Eli was over at his friend, Cole's house. Cole's parents, Chris and Lindsay Good, live right behind Concord High School, which President Obama was visiting on Monday. Lindsay bundled the boys all up and they walked over to the high school to check out everything. I wish I could have joined them. Eli couldn't stop talking about it...especially the buses and cars he saw. What an amazing experience! These are the pictures that Lindsay sent to me of their exciting morning.

Vincent Comes For A Visit

On Saturday night Eli's cousin, Vincent, got to come over and play while Aunt Keli and Uncle Pablo went out. Vincent and Eli had so much fun! They played with the train table, played with cars, watched the movie "Corduroy", and danced around in Eli's room. Vincent really enjoyed the Imagination Movers CD and both the boys danced and sang to all the fun songs. They were soooo cute and definitely worked up a sweat. Vincent is really into the movie "Cars", so he carried Eli's "Cars" cars around all evening. He especially loved Lightening McQueen and Ramone....so much he didn't want to leave them.

We had such a wonderful time having Vincent come for a visit! Come back soon...and bring your brothers, too! We love you!

Toddler Time

Today was the first session of Toddler Time at the Dunlap Library. Both of Eli's friends, Cole & Bella, are also in the group. Eli had a blast! He loved dancing to the silly songs, listening to the stories, blowing bubbles, and putting puzzles together. As you can see by the pictures, he always had to be right by the teacher and loved the attention. After the session, we checked out some new books and videos to take home.

We then headed over to the Jr. High to join Grandma for lunch. Eli loved seeing all of Grandma's "buddies" and showing off for them. I think Grandma loved showing Eli off, too. Thank you for lunch, Grandma! We had a great time!
