Kiki Comes for a Visit

Last Wednesday my Aunt Karen (Kiki) came to visit us from Nashville, TN. She was able to spend time at my house for a few days, then stay with my sister for a few more days. We had such a wonderful visit! While she was here she also motivated Eli to start using the potty!!! She gave him quarters each time he went.....which he loved! He also just loved having her praise and was so proud of himself. We had some special times: Going to the Chocolate Cafe, spending a day at Grandpa and Grandma Joey's on the lake, staying up for late night talks, and even having Kiki join us for church at GCC, then lunch with Keli's family, too. Eli loved spending time with Kiki (as did I) and it was so hard to see her go. We sure wish she and her family lived closer.

We love you, Kiki! Thank you for everything! Hope we can get together again soon!

Using the Potty

Aunt Karen (Kiki) came for a visit this week. While she was here she actually got Eli to start using the potty regularly. Karen motivated Eli by giving him a quarter each time he went on the potty.....pretty good deal, huh?! Eli loved it! He also loved how excited we all got each time he went. Eli is now doing a great job using the potty each time, at least to go pee pee. Poopie is definitely another story.

First Day of Preschool

Today was Eli's first day of preschool at Trinity United Methodist Church. He was so excited that it was really hard getting him to focus on breakfast or getting ready to go. We had so much to bring this morning, too....his school supplies, papers to return, and cupcakes & milk for his birthday snack (they were celebrating August birthdays today).

After picking Eli up, he went on and on about all the fun things he did. He sang songs, colored with markers, played outside and even got to play with the toys in the classroom. We then met Daddy for lunch at Mayberry and Daddy got an earful.

So proud of my little boy! Can't believe how grown up he is now!

An Evening at Lake Camelot

Last night we headed to Lake Camelot in Syracuse to spend the evening with the Goods. We had a wonderful time at Lindsay's mom and dad's house. We watched the Notre Dame game (not happy about the ending!), ate some good food, and enjoyed some time outside. Cole and Eli had such a great time playing with toys and even had a wrestling match with Lindsay.

Chris helped Eli fish for the first time and he caught one!!!! We also had a nice boat ride along the lake and Eli made a big step....we removed his diaper and he peed in the lake! He also did it again off the pier when we returned to the house!

It was such a fun night with friends! Thank you Chris, Lindsay, Bert, Kathy & Erin for allowing us to join you for the evening!

Fiesta Time

On Friday night Keli & Pablo had a Mexican Fiesta to celebrate Mexican Independence Day at their house. They had someone come and make authentic Mexican tacos for everyone! Boy, were they good!!!! Was a fun night to see the family and meet all of their friends and neighbors.

Hospital Visit

This week has been a very scary week for us. On Monday evening Eli developed a cough. We didn't think much about it, just assumed that here comes another cold. Well, on Tuesday Eli wasn't only coughing a lot, but also was vomiting and acting very lethargic. He was definitely not himself. After he took a short nap I noticed his breathing wasn't normal. He was really struggling. I called the pediatrician, but they could not get him in until in the afternoon, and she recommended that I take him to the ER. I'm so thankful that I listened because Eli was immediately put on nebulizer treatments, oxygen and admitted into the hospital. The doctors weren't positive what was going on, but believe it was a respiratory virus or allergies that caused an asthma attack. (Eli has never had issues with asthma, so this was all new to us.) For the first 24 hours they also had to treat it like it could be the H1N1 virus, so Eli was put in a quarantined room and anyone that came into the room had to wear masks and robes. Anyway, after 3 days and 2 nights Eli is home. We are continuing nebulizer treatments every 4 to 6 hours, plus he is still taking an oral steroid. Next Tuesday we will go see the pediatrician for Eli's check up. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers during this week...they definitely helped.

After Eli's tests came back negative for H1N1 Eli was able to move around the hospital floor. Daddy took this cute video of him walking his IV around.
